Anyone know the best way to search for old international friends without getting caught up in a costly racket?

I've been searching for an old penpal from Denmark for years and unfortunately it's very possible her last name could be different now. I do know her full name and an old address and old telephone number and even some minor personal info but she is no longer at the old address and phone number. I've tried internation people finder sites but they all charge and never turn up anything useful. I lost contact with her 15 years ago and we always promised we'd meet eachother one day ... for years it seemed hopeless but with todays better communication technology, I would think it would be a possibility. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since you have a name and a former address it is also possible to contact the municipality for the information, but that is something you may have to do in person and for a fee. They are almost sure to be able to give you the information and the fee is not very large, but if it does have to be in person, then I would imagine that's a problem.
I just chose a random service center, that you can try to call. If nothing else works for you, at least you can always try asking them.

Don't worry about the language. The people will very likely be able to speak English quite well, and if the first person by some odd chance does not, then s/he can certainly find someone who can.
